Post ride recovery for endurance riders is not usually a topic that most of us think about. Usually after the ride is over, you just want to sit down and relax. But if you make wise use of the post ride recovery period, you will be well rewarded.
Recent studies have showed that an endurance athlete can significantly reduce the time

Karen on Rocky at Mt. Charleston Challenge
Long before blogging was popular, I often wrote up my ride reports. I thought I’d share some of them from a few of the rides I did on Rocky. I’m really glad now that I wrote a lot of that stuff down. Many of the details I might not have remembered otherwise.
I have so many great memories from the miles of trails I shared with

Had a nice ride at the Bryce ride (aka Paunsaguant XP) – four more days to round out the fall trip to a total of 14 ride days and 700 miles.
Chief and Bo both completed 7 days of the rides–350 miles each, plus each also went out a few days to mark or scout trail. They both got quite the workout!
We achieved our goals for the season, which was pretty cool –

I just got home from spending more than a month in Arizona and Utah. I had a great adventure with my horses Chief, Bo and Maya (my dog). The best part is that we were able to ride all 14 days (700 miles) of rides, split evenly between both horses. We also got in some great rides scouting and/or marking trail as well.
The weather wasn’t very cooperative at the Grand Canyon though in

I rode really carefully, since I am am now headed to the Grand Canyon, Outlaw and Virgin and Bryce XP rides. I’m hoping to alternate both horses. Bo needs one more day to reach 7,000 miles and if I am

We had a nice ride both days at the Nevada Derby this past weekend. I rode Bo on the first day, and Chief on the second day. The last time i did this ride was in 2009, so it was nice to be able to go back and do it again.
The ride is in

Daily results from all four days are posted on the XP website here. The ride seemed to go very well this year. I was happy to get to ride all four days – two days on Bo and two days on Chief. Everything went well for us. The footing on the third day was so nice that I never put boots on Chief the entire day – he completed the entire

Bill Thornburgh Ride, Karen and Bo. Photo by Tony Wilkie.
Here is an album of photos from the Bill Thornburgh ride that I did in October. I rode Bo both days and we had a great time!
They do a nice job on this ride – it’s well marked, there is plenty of water and hay on the trail plus they serve a wonderful dinner. For awards we got tie-dyed t-shirts. This must
