Ride Volunteers at the Nevada Derby 2013
Chief and Karen on Sunday. This was Chief’s 18th birthday!!
We had a nice ride both days at the Nevada Derby this past weekend. I rode Bo on the first day, and Chief on the second day. The last time i did this ride was in 2009, so it was nice to be able to go back and do it again.
The ride is in

Daily results from all four days are posted on the XP website here. The ride seemed to go very well this year. I was happy to get to ride all four days – two days on Bo and two days on Chief. Everything went well for us. The footing on the third day was so nice that I never put boots on Chief the entire day – he completed the entire

Bill Thornburgh Ride, Karen and Bo. Photo by Tony Wilkie.
Here is an album of photos from the Bill Thornburgh ride that I did in October. I rode Bo both days and we had a great time!
They do a nice job on this ride – it’s well marked, there is plenty of water and hay on the trail plus they serve a wonderful dinner. For awards we got tie-dyed t-shirts. This must

Good luck Angel from Jonni in TX. This would be her 2nd Tevis with Bo.

Two more Tevis angels — here Bo poses with my good luck Angel that would be going for her fourth time through, thanks to Susan G. One can never have too much good luck!
I should rename this post to be: blogging on a netbook

I’ll do a more thorough writeup about the Tevis ride later this week. We had a GREAT ride this year! All of the planning and preparation and hard work was worth it. Even if I did enter late at least I got on the ball and we got ‘er done!
Bo was a rock star! He is my hero! (I feel that way about Chief too, but this post is all about BO!)

Just back and finding time to write a bit about the City of Rocks ride in South East Idaho. The ride also crossed state lines into Utah.
We had a great time and really enjoyed each day of the ride! I decided at nearly the last minute to go. I had been hemming and hawing over it for some time as I really wanted to go, but then also was weighing going to do

There are a lot of photos in this album. I think that Mt. Carmel is one of the nicest 5 day rides still in existence. I didn’t get to do it last ride season so that made it even better this year.
I hadn’t forgotten what a nice ride it was, and it was a real treat to get to ride it again. I rode Bo on days 1, 3, and 5 and rode

I’ve been behind on blogging due to being at rides for the last three weeks. I rode Bo and Chief both two days at Eastern Mojave, then from there we moved over to the Bar H ride in Perris, CA.
It was a great trip overall and I was happy to get back home. It was quite a change going from 80 degree temps on Sunday to being home where it’s 20 degrees and

We had a pretty good time last weekend. I rode Chief on Friday to mark trail along with Sue Wilkie and her horse Rocky. Then, I rode Bo on the first day of the ride in the 50, and Chief in the 50 on the 2nd day. The weather turned out great, and all things considered the turnout was decent – though still down over the previous year. I think that may just be
