Today turned out to be quite nice. I had a fantastic ride on Chief, though it’s rare that I don’t – he such a sweetheart and I so love riding him. At the start he was pretty amped up but settled in after a few miles and was pretty good all day.

Here are some photos from the Death Valley ride. We had a nice time. My husband Dave went with me to move the rig. We did have a funny noise coming from the truck when we slowed down going into Bishop….crud! Turns out it was the truck brakes and it’s getting fixed as we speak. I decided to ride Bo the first day. I’m not sure why, maybe because Chief did more miles trail marking so I figured he could use the extra day break he’d get before going on day 2? In either case, there wasn’t any real definite reason for picking which horse to ride which day. Sometimes [...] I’ll start with posting photos along with links to the results. There will be more on these new ride changes in the next XP newsletter that will be going out soon to the XP riders. The High Desert endurance ride this year was especially colorful. The fall colors were really nice this year – we rode through tons of yellow and orange cottonwoods. What a great ride! I started my photo albums from the Grand Canyon ride with the middle day – because that’s the day Chief reached 9,000 lifetime miles . It seems like I was just starting him. My how time flies. He has really been a nice horse for me. Another great day. I ended up riding Bo one day – the fourth day, and Chief the other four days, days 1-2-3 and 5 for a total of 250 miles between them. The weather ended up cooperating very nicely for us. Steve Bradley got some great photos. I also have quite [...] The second went really well. It was gorgeous! We were blessed to be able to ride under beautiful blue skies and it warmed up nicely – what a great fall day to ride. I didn’t know it yet, but this part coming up was going to be the best part of the ride, and the worst part of the ride for us. I always try to look at everything as positively as possible.
