The 5 day Bryce XP ride this year was great. It was a lot of up and downs, and I’m not referring to the trail! The hardest and most challenging parts were all things that happened prior to the ride starting. I was never so relieved for the ride to actually start. Sometimes things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right.
As soon as I get caught up I’ll write more about it. Suffice to say, my horses survived bogs, bees (wasp stings) and boulders collapsing under them. Nevermind getting kicked, lots of deadfall and washouts (most all of this was prior to the ride starting). It really made me appreciate having ordinary ho-hum rides. On the other hand, it was quite an adventure and now I’ve got a lot of stories to tell.
Chief and Bo are happy to be home after being gone for two weeks. So am I!! More later. I’ve got to get the results from the ride done and posted. Here is a quick summary – 9 same horse and rider teams did all 5 days while 9 riders completed all 5 days on more than one horse. First overall was Gentry Yost and overall Best Condition went to FS Nova Star ridden by Cathy Bartusek. Congratulations to all of these horse and rider teams!! Karen

I can’t wait to hear your stories. I swear you’ve got to get together with Bobbie Lieberman and write a book.Take all your best stories and tips and put together an “Endurance Riders Manual”. Hey, I’ve even got your title already.
Allan and I keep saying, “theres a future Hall of Fame Gal”. You have done so much to educate and help others. Your awesome!
You going to VC100? We will be there for our first time. Allan is riding Rosie. Wish us luck.
My dad is coming to visit next week, so I won’t be at VC. I don’t have a horse to ride since they both did so much at Bryce. I’ll write more about that later, I finally just got a writeup done about the week leading up to Bryce…next part will be about the ride and the numerous mishaps we encountered. Fortunately both the horses weathered it, and should be fine for Grand Canyon.
Good luck at Virginia City! I had a blast last year. It was a ton of fun.
