I just updated my blog to the newest WordPress version – 2.9. It went really smoothly and everything seems to be working in the dashboard. If somebody spots something that doesn’t work in a previous blog post, let me know. I see that the links in my right hand column are gone. I’ll work on fixing that. A widget probably needs to be updated to work with 2.9.
I really like using WP because there are so many options and features. Just about any kind of feature you can dream up, there is an add-on for it. Just go to wordpress.org and look up their plug-ins/add ons. I’ve even got one that can display different messages for my blog visitors based upon where they originate from!
I’m much happier having more control over my blog because I host it myself rather than use an already made service like Blogger or even the regular WordPress, or TypePad. The blog is set up on Linux and I am using Atahualpa 3.3.2 as my theme.
I’ve got a new photo album generator that I’m going to try next time I post photos. The one I have been using NextGen Gallery just had an update so it may offer more features now too. Sometimes there are too many choices! Kind of makes our horses seem relatively simple! (ha ha)
Update: The fix for the RSS feed links in the right hand column was relatively easy. I also fiddled a bit with some of the settings. Some blogs link and supply feed info fine, and others do not. Usually after a few days of having something not work, I remove it. Please send suggestions for links to other blogs and I can try to add them back or find a way to link them so that it will work.
