These were taken today. Some are before, and some are after a bit of a touch-up trim. He hasn’t needed much due to being ridden barefoot, and also from doing those two endurance rides barefoot in November. Keep in mind when looking at these photos that there is a lot of pigment in Bo’s hooves so sometimes things might look distorted or odd. The pigment in his hoof wall often makes it look like he doesn’t have hoof wall in spots but it is there all the way around on all four feet. It can be hard to see in the photos. Sometimes there is the illusion of no hoofwall.
Today I used the angle grinder rather than a hoof knife. I wanted to see how it would work in these conditions. The horses feet are soft enough now to trim with a hoof knife easily. During the summer it’s not nearly that easy! As you can see when comparing Bo’s hoof photos from today and Chief’s from yesterday I can arrive at the same result using different tools. They both work.
