Thirty-six years ago, at the age of 40, Al Beaupre was diagnosed with diabetes and high cholesterol, and told to change his ways. “Neither of us could jog one

I didn’t know it yet, but this part coming up was going to be the best part of the ride, and the worst part of the ride for us. I always try to look at everything as positively as possible. For example, I knew that we had 22 mile left to go. Why, that’s not even a LD ride! Plus, all I really need to think about is that if I go 11 miles

We left Washoe and the 39 mile vetcheck and got onto the nice singletrack trail. Tigger saw Jerry and Erasmo ahead of us and thought it would be fun to catch up to them. They were stopping for something and we went on by then started climbing up. Some of this trail was supposedly new but I hadn’t done the ride in so long that I didn’t know the difference.
Fortunately the day had

I was on…the horse. We were trotting down the trail! The sun was coming up and I had a big grin. Tigger did too, I could tell. We were on our way. I was getting excited. This was for real and I was able to breath a sigh of relief that I was on the horse, motoring down the trail getting a start on doing this 100 mile ride.
The last time I did

I went to the ride not knowing if I was really going to get to ride or not. It’s complicated. You see, Dave Rabe was supposed to ride White Cloud at the AERC NC 100 the week before. Turned out that White Cloud had other ideas and the day before that ride he got sweaty and had diarrhea, so Dave opted not to ride him.
So I figured

This is from Amy, who crewed for me (and a few others) and did a GREAT JOB! I can’t believe she stayed up for me to finish that late. It was sure nice having help on the ride, and I really appreciated all of her help and so did Tigger! Thanks Amy!!! Now she has a real ghost story to tell too! Here

Had to share this video of the cemetery in Virginia City. Turns out some at the finish line of the VC 100 this weekend saw a ghost…or ghosts. Actually, I think it was the same ghost they saw more than once. I’ll try to post more on this later, if I’m allowed <g>. Anyway, enjoy the video while thinking about how it would feel to ride a horse through this area in the middle
