and actually I feel pretty good about it. I know that sounds kind of strange, but really – after this last year when I was really very sick for several months this is like a walk in the park. I’ve had a sore throat and a fever but also have all of the other symptoms as well. I guess this is a way for me to know that I really am better now because I have my optomistic nature back. I know that this is just temporary and really do not feel anywhere near as bad as I did six or eight months ago when I was in a downward spiral with multiple serious health issues going on. It’s kind of a great feeling actually. Besides, how bad can it be when I didn’t get sick at the ride! I’m getting my voice back today too.

Dear Karen: So sorry to read that you have the H1N1 virus. My compassion goes out to you. Glad that your husband is there to assist you at home. Glad that you are not 400 miles from home in a wilderness area. With support and consolation from Bob and all the AERC riders.
Post Script: AERC is holding a 4-day Trail Master class here in Placer County and a dozen of *your* friends are enrolled. Each paid $120 for for this professional trail class. I am seated next to Kathie Perry, Mike Shackelford, Greg Kimler, Steve Hallmark, and other Tevis riders, and we are enjoying the trail class. Even though we are veterans of trails for many decades, we are learning a few new tips on layout and design of new endurance trails, or how to realign them so that they are optimum for endurance rides (=paced at a trot or fast trot). There is a written examination each of the four days, so we are all keenly alert during the morning lectures in the classroom (with Powerpoint slides). The classroom is a (free) community room within Folsom Lake State Recreation Area. The afternoons are for outside lectures on the trail.
