What a weekend – horse wrecks, train wrecks….

My brother in law Paul was on the Metrolink train that wrecked near Los Angeles, California. 25 people (so far) were killed, with many others still in critical or serious condition.  Click here for more.

On Sunday morning my horse Rocky somehow managed to fall through the neighbors fence, into another neighbors yard.  This required breaking a fence post that broke in two and three 2×6 rails complete with no climb wire and hotwire that Rocky got entangled in.  Needless to say, he is quite a mess and I”ll be spending some time doctoring his wounds.  He has been being a good patient and fortunately didn’t get any serious punctures.  Dave, my dad and neighbor were able to get the fence repaired and put back.  I won’t post any photos because I can’t stand to look at a bloody white horse.

One bright thing is that my folks have been up visiting for a few days.  My dad came when I first got really sick and is so relieved and happy to see that I am finally starting to turn around, albeit slowly (very slowly).  We all realize and accept that it is going to take quite a bit longer for me to get my strength back.  I will soon find out if the parasite infection that I had is still here in the form of encysted parasites in my liver or if it is lesions that are caused from damage by the parasites.  The last several months have totally turned my life upside down and I can certainly sympathize with those involved with these recent disasters or that have otherwise have had huge changes that have affected them.  My heart really goes out to the families and victims of Hurricane Ike as well as the Metrolink train disaster.

Looks like Rocky and Paul both are going to be fine, thank goodness!
